Rachel Bunnell, BS

Clinical Counseling Intern

Rachel has a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Minnesota State University, Mankato.  Rachel is currently pursuing a Master of Science degree in Clinical Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Counseling from Capella University.  Rachel is in the final stages of her degree and is currently working towards completing the state required supervisory hours needed in order to apply for licensure as a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC).

Rachel has experience working with children, adolescents, and adults with various mental health disorders. These include but are not limited to, anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, ADHD, and conduct disorder.  Prior to joining the Five Rivers team, Rachel was employed at an Autism Center where she provided 1:1 intervention using Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA)strategies and  techniques.

Rachel’s clinical approach is strengths-based and solution-focused. Rachel believes that therapy should be collaborative relationship and encourages clients to actively participate in the therapeutic process.  Rachel takes a direct approach and uses cognitive-behavioral therapy strategies during sessions to help clients recognize and reframe cognitive distortions. Rachel believes this is the most effective approach when helping clients achieve emotional and personal growth.

Rachel resides in the Mankato area with her husband and 3 children.  Outside of spending time with her family, Rachel enjoys listening to music, entertaining, and watching documentaries.
