Kristy is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato with her undergraduate degree in social work. Kristy has a wide range of experience working with children, adolescents, adults and families. Many of these individuals are highly marginalized and reside in rural communities. Kristy has worked as a school-linked mental health therapist serving students in grades Kindergarten through six and provides services to clients of various age groups. Kristy works collaboratively with her clients to create a strong therapeutic alliance and approaches the therapeutic relationship from a strength based, developmentally-appropriate, and relationship-focused framework. Kristy utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach drawing from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy technique, Motivational interviewing, Relational Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, mindfulness, and relaxation. Kristy has experience in working with issues related to trauma-and-stress related disorder, anxiety disorders, depression, attachment and relationships, anger, and ADHD.
