Gykayla received her Master’s of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adler Graduate School in Richfield, Minnesota. Gykayla received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Psychology and American Indian Studies from the University of Minnesota, Morris. She is currently completing her post graduate internship hours with Five Rivers Mental Health Clinic to apply for the Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) licensure.
Gykayla feels that the power of therapy helps individuals to find their inner voice and start the healing process towards peace. She acknowledges the need for relationships throughout the growth process and in helping people reach their goals. She focuses on how the person can find inner strength and resolve in learning about themselves.
Gykayla works with adolescents, young adults and women in the specialty areas of depression, grief/loss, anxiety, complex trauma, sexual abuse, stress management, and self-esteem. She emphasizes Adlerian Individual Psychology and Person-Centered approach with the client while implementing Cognitive Behavioral therapy. She helps to identify elements within the individual’s life that may be influencing their mental and emotional health by building a holistic view of the client’s story.
