Dr. Dan Moen is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Certified Family Life Educator. Dan received his doctorate in Family and Human Development from Utah State University in 2011 and post masters certificates in Marriage and Family Therapy and Chemical Dependency counseling from St. Cloud State University in 2004. Dan has experience working with adults, couples, groups, veterans, and families in both hospital and outpatient settings. Dan’s areas of expertise include couple’s therapy, family of origin, wellness education, depression, anxiety, anger management, and substance abuse. Dan believes in the therapeutic journey, employing a variety of therapeutic methods, adapting to each client’s specific needs. Some therapeutic themes include; mindfulness, solutions focused therapy, narrative therapy, and emotional focused therapy.
Dan is an associate professor at Minnesota State University, Mankato (since 2011), teaching, advising and conducting research in the area of Child Development and Family Studies. A significant focus of Dan’s research/study has been in the area of family and couple strengths/resiliency. Dan enjoys spending time with his family, going on walks, visiting parks/playgrounds, and playing basketball.
